Haileybury make history with Under 15 National Schools win

Haileybury made history by claiming the Under 15A National Schools Championship, defeating St Helen & St Katharine 3-1, and winning the school’s first ever National Lacrosse title.

The Hertfordshire school were impressive all day long, remaining unbeaten in their pool with four wins and a draw, and continuing that form through the knockouts to reach the final.

After qualifying through to the Last 16, they beat Guildford (1-0), Godolphin (5-1), and Putney High (4-2), to meet St Helen & St Katharine in the final.

After finishing second in their pool, they had strong wins against St Paul’s (3-1) in the Last 16, and St Albans (5-3) in the Quarter-final, before a 1-0 win against Claremont Fan Court took them to the final.

In the final, Haileybury went out in to a two-goal lead, taking it through to half-time before St Helen & St Katharine pulled one back at the start of the second-half to begin a comeback.

St Helen & St Katharine then had chances to level, but the opposition goalkeeper was on form to keep them out, and in the final minute Haileybury then added a third to make sure of the win and earn Haileybury the Championship.

There was also a win for Moreton Hall in the U15A Division 1 competition, beating Sherborne 6-1 in the final.
